Latest Updates from Our Project:

January update. Engraving stage.
over 9 years ago – Sat, Mar 14, 2015 at 01:00:03 AM

Hello dear backers and Happy New Year!

I finally heard from quality control company overseas. The owner of the factory was on vacation and didn't bother to inform me leaving in the dark.

Anyway. According to new information assembly is still in process and now they are in engraving stage (laser etched logo)

That's how I feel
That's how I feel

I absolutely hate the idea to give you an exact time frame when I receive SLAbs, since factory failed to meet deadline every single time for the past few months. According to the owner - "It will be done in two weeks".

That's the latest news. All I can say is that wallets are being manufactured, the pile of boxes grow and there is nothing in my power to speed this process. It's  definitely the last time I am using this factory. I am disappointed since they had such a great success history in the past.

Once again I want to thank you for great support and patience. I know some of you are starting to loose faith in this project. Hang in there. I will keep you informed on all new information as soon as I get it.

Latest news from Asia
over 9 years ago – Thu, Mar 12, 2015 at 05:21:09 AM

Hello dear backers.

I just got some news from my overseas factory. According to them "this time for sure", they promise to ship wallets by the end of this week.

Saying that, these news don't make me excited, since they failed to fulfill deadlines in the past. However TET (lunar new year) is coming up soon that will halt all production in Asia for over a month and most people do their best to pay their debts to maintain good karma. My hopes are higher than usual just because of it.

Once again, this is just information that I promised to share with you, my grateful backers. It is not my promise since it's still not in my control.

Thank you for your words of support, patience and your questions. I really apologize to people I don't reply promptly. I will do my best to be more efficient. In case you didn't get a responce from me, please send a message through kickstarter and I will get back to you. P

Stay tuned

Hello dear backers.

I finally had confirmation that first batch of 150 wallets are on it's way to Canada.

The rest of the wallets are promised to be shipped right after holidays.

Thank you for your support and patience. Your patience will be rewarded soon. I will update you once I receive parcels and do an inventory of colors and models I receive. I am still waiting for tracking number and once received I will give you better idea of time frame.

Stay tuned

Update on manufacturing. Roadblocks and timeline updated
almost 10 years ago – Mon, Dec 22, 2014 at 04:39:33 AM

Hello dear backers,

I've been working hard since the last update to contact manufacturers and get the latest manufacturing status. Here's what happening. I hired a Quality Assurance company overseas to visit the factory and check aluminum wallets. Their update was very disappointing and devastating in a way.

The anodizing on the black wallets was completely unacceptable. I was on the phone with factory owner and his excuse was that the party they used to anodize black wallets had a temperature control malfunction which caused uneven layering of color on plates and different shades. He was trying to convince me that the next batch would be better; however, it is completely unacceptable to my standard and I simply can't deliver half ass job to you guys. I just received a message saying that fresh batch has been produced for anodizing.

He assured me that everything should be completed within 10 days. However I take it with a grain of salt since his timeline promises failed in the past.

Now more on Titanium wallets.

The factory in Canada that I use to mill the plates called me and asked me to come over. Their CNC mill that was used to mill titanium plates malfunctioned and ran through the plates destroying 25 units (out of 30 ordered). They are devastated since this machine is not only extremely expensive but now they are behind on huge orders besides mine.

They are dedicating a different machine by mid week to fix it. I already purchased more titanium and it's been shipped via express post to the factory as we speak. Once they receive the titanium, they will have to mill each plate individually on this machine. Each plate takes and hour since it's titanium. So it will take 75 machine hours to complete the task.

Saying that, the titanium wallets should be ready by the time aluminum wallets arrive from overseas. Once again I can't thank you enough for your patience and support throughout SLAB project. I spent over 9 months planning and preparing for this and I am very upset that even with all prep work performed, everything that could go wrong actually did.

My cost also almost tripled since the end of campaign and I had to get some loans to get more materials, hire a QC company, and travel expenses. I realize that it's not your problem and as I promised before I will deliver a top quality product to you who supported me and will keep you up-to-date no matter how hard it is.

One more thing. Some backers claimed refund with their credit card companies. The ones that used the backer kit. I realize that it takes longer than I promised but I ask you to wait a bit more since I get charged 50$ per chargeback, in addition to original amount.  Thank you very much for bearing with me and giving me your continuous support.
